A new management plan for Fort Malden National Historic Site and Amherstburg Navy Yard National Historic Site was tabled in Parliament on Thursday.
The plan is reviewed every ten years, and are a legislative requirement of the Canada National Parks Act and guide the management of Parks Canada places.
The new plan for Fort Malden National Historic Site and Amherstburg Navy Yard National Historic Site outlines plans to strengthen the distinct but related identities of Fort Malden and the Amherstburg Navy Yard to enhance public understanding of their historical relationship and to engage a range of communities – from local to those in the United States – to foster their connection with Fort Malden and the Amherstburg Navy Yard.
The plan was developed through public consultation and based on input from local residents and organizations, visitors, stakeholders, partners, and Indigenous communities of Southwestern Ontario.
The management plan is available on the Parks Canada website here.
