The Downtown Residents Association is hosting a public meeting this Thursday, October 6th to help inform the public on school closures and what steps community members may take to be part of the discussion.

The meeting will focus on the proposed program and accommodation review committee decisions that targeted core-area schools for closure. In a May 2016 meeting, the public school board had suggested closing Hugh Beaton, Queen Victoria, and Prince Edward schools.

It was decided at that meeting to review all of the schools over the next six months and table a new plan no earlier than November 17th, 2016.

Confirmed guests include NDP Education Critic, Lisa Gretzky, Queen Victoria public school parent council member Rino Bortolin, Public school trustees Jessica Sartori, Alan Halberstadt, and Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario 1st Vice President, Mario Spagnuolo.

It takes place at the Ukrainian National Federation Hall, located at 1033 Ottawa Street starting at 6:30pm
