Starting in July of this year the City of Windsor and Caesar’s Windsor joined up to start a weekly walking club, in the hopes of encouraging their employees to get a little more out of their lunch breaks.

This week Mayor Drew Dilkens and Caesars Entertainment Regional President Kevin Laforet joined in on the walk, which was a first time experience for Dilkens.

While the mayor would like to encourage employees of the city to enjoy the waterfront and get some fresh air during their lunch breaks, he admits that he will often eat while working, and had to have today’s session scheduled in.

This venture is also a “hope to connect the two employers,” says Nora Romero, Corporate Marketing and Communications Officer for the City of Windsor.

But this doesn’t mean that the weekly club is closed to employees of other businesses.

“Anyone is welcome to join,” says Dilkens.

The Walking Wednesdays Kilometre Club meets each week at Charles Clarke Square for a 12:15 departure on a route that includes the Civic Esplanade and Riverfront and takes roughly twenty minutes to complete.
