A LaSalle woman won $100,000 on a lottery ticket last week.
Jackie Griffiths of LaSalle played Encore on the OLG’s September 23rd draw and won the $100,000. Griffiths matched six of seven winning numbers on her selection.
“I checked the winning numbers on OLG.ca the day after the draw,” said Griffiths. “I saw I had six numbers and figured I probably won something but I didn’t think it was this much. My mom double checked and told me I won $100,000!”
Griffiths rushed to the store to scan her ticket in the ticket checker. “I wanted to be absolutely certain that I won. And the confirmation I needed was right there, in bold letters, on the ticket checker screen – ‘Big Winner.’”
Two days later, Griffiths made her way to the OLG’s Prize Centre in Toronto. “Here I am collecting my amazing cheque! I already have some great plans for my windfall. I want to pay off some bills. I also plan to put half of my winnings towards a home for me and my son. And I also want a pick-up truck. I’m now in the process of becoming a police officer. It’s my dream job because I will be able to help people and help the community I live in,” concluded Griffiths.
The winning ticket was purchased at Dylan’s Mini Mart on Simcoe Street in Amherstburg.
