This Sunday, the largest free recreation program in the city’s history takes place.
From 9am to 1pm, a designated route in the City of Windsor will be closed to traffic and open to people of all ages, abilities, social and economic backgrounds to enjoy the Open Streets.
The route spans approximately 8 kilometres and will connect business areas and residential neighbourhoods on Sandwich Street, University Avenue, Aylmer Avenue, Wyandotte Street East and Drouillard Road.
Open Streets are unique events that have been held in over 100 North American cities and involve the temporary closure of roadways to vehicular traffic. The streets become paved parks, allowing people to use them for a host of healthy and fun physical activities like walking, cycling, yoga, dancing and fitness.
