The gloomy weather could not dampen the bright spirits of Relay for Life participants at the Riverfront Festival Plaza Saturday evening. Participants showed their support and raised funds for cancer research, walking a path while being encouraged by live music. For every circuit they complete, they received a bead to add to their gimp lanyard necklaces, receiving a special bead for every kilometre that they completed.
With dedicated participants, coordinating and volunteering teams, Relay for Life raises thousands of dollars every year across Canada, which goes to cancer research funding and support services to save more lives.
