It was in 1991, that the residents of the Township of Sandwich West opted to define themselves as a town, and incorporated as the Town of LaSalle, and this weekend they are cerebrating 25 years with many activities planned.
Friday, June 3rd – LaSalle Civic Centre:
6pm to 8pm – Activities at LaSalle Library
7pm – Mad Science Show sponsored by Essex County Library
Dusk – Outdoor Movie featuring The Lego Movie sponsored in part by Rotary Club of LaSalle-Centennial
Saturday, June 4th:
10am – LaSalle Police Service Bicycle Rodeo at Vollmer Culture & Recreation Complex
11am to 1pm – Explore LaSalle Library and make a craft
1pm – LaSalle Skateboard Competition at Vollmer Culture & Recreation Complex sponsored by Essex Power Corporation
2pm to 3pm – LaSalle Sabre Bytes Robotics Team Demonstration at LaSalle Library
Sunday, June 5th:
11am to 3pm – LaSalle’s 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Vollmer Culture & Recreation Complex
Participants can dance away with a DJ Dance Party sponsored by Essex Power Corporation. There will be large LaSalle colouring sheets, photos with Le Griffon and early explorer cut-outs, visits with LaSalle Fire Service, LaSalle Police Service and the LaSalle Vipers, and a free BBQ. Storyteller, Doug Robinson, will re-enact the history of Rene Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle. There will also be an inflatable slide, jumping castle, plasma car course, face painting and giveaways. This is a free family event.
