Windsor’s Silver Stars Drill Riding Team Wins Medals In Kentucky

The Silver Stars Precision Riding Team, a local equestrian team from Windsor-Essex recently traveled to Kentucky to represent Canada in a drill competition and had very successful results.
The Silver Stars are a local equestrian riding team comprised of 12 young female riders ranging in ages 13 to 25 that perform choregraphed maneouveures on horseback set to music. The team’s home barn is Lazee G Ranch equestrian centre. A not for profit group, the team performs at horse shows, fundraisers and benefits, local parades and in drill competitions.
On May 20th to 22nd, Northern Kentucky Horse Network (NKHN) hosted their 7th Annual Drill Competition in Alexandria, Kentucky and 17 teams participated in the event including The Silver Stars.
The Silver Stars team and their coaches Brenda Gagnon and Hanna Colenutt traveled to Kentucky along with 12 horses and many friends and family members.
There were over ten different drill categories available to compete in. The Silver Stars competed in the Theme Drill Open, Freestyle Open, Freestyle Youth, Quad Open, Quad Youth and Quad Novice categories. The Silver Stars were able to showcase their talents at the competition and took home many medals including gold, silver and bronze.
