PHOTOS: Wyandotte Street Restaurant Erupts In Flames

Firefighters spent much of the holiday Monday battling a blaze at Le Chef Restaurant and the adjoining Downtown Auto Service garage in the 800 block of Wyandotte Street East.

Firefighters were called to the scene just after 8am and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

The fire department made three requests for additional fire trucks and firefighters due to the severity of the blaze.

Fire officials had also asked that people stay away from scene, shelter in place and close windows if in the area.

The fire was reported under control just after noon, but firefighters worked well into the evening putting out hot spots.

An investigator arrived on scene in the late afternoon and the investigation will continue Monday morning. Heavy equipment will be required to examine the building.

No one was injured in the fire.
