Thousands of runners came out Sunday morning for Windsor’s only half marathon, plus a 5K and a 10K, pounds and pounds of chocolate and firemen handing out medals in Walkerville.
The Le Chocolat Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K was the first race of the season for local athletics group Running Flat.
Participants in the event, billed as a “Mother’s Day Primer”, received a 3L box of wine in the shape of a purse and enjoyed chocolate inspired treats at the finish line.
The course took runners from the Walkerville Brewery, down Riverside Drive, and back to Walkerville along the riverfront rail.
Firefighters were on hand throughout the course to not only lend first aid, but hand out refreshments and thousands of gold, silver and bronze “Le Chocolat” medals at the finish line.
