The annual Earth Day Tree Planting Celebration takes place this Sunday from 10am to Noon at Florence and McHugh, just east of the WFCU Centre in Windsor.
More than 2,000 trees will be planted at this event, with the help of people from over 40 local businesses and community organizations and the support of the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup.
“Earth Day is about taking action – all of us working together to protect our watersheds and restore natural areas to help improve our quality of life in this region,” explains Danielle Breault Stuebing, ERCA’s Director of Community Outreach Services. “It’s a true family event and, after almost 20 years, it’s been wonderful to see so many families return year after year. As their children are growing, so are the trees that are being planted.”
Guests are encouraged to bring their own shovel if possible. There will be a limited supply of tree planting tools available. Attendees can also enjoy a seed bomb craft, an invasive species paper-making demonstration, and coffee courtesy of Starbucks.
