Meet Youcan the Toucan, the new mascot for Adventure Bay.
The name was chosen by 7-year old Kamilla Merrow, a student from Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in LaSalle.
Kamilla herself best summed up the new name on her entry form, explaining, “Youcan swims, Youcan slides, Youcan floats and Youcan has fun and YOU CAN TOO!”
The city says there was some great competition from fans of all ages across the region. The contest, which was held earlier this year, received over 200 entries. Adventure Bay asked for “a name that’s catchy, memorable and fun—a name captures the spirit of everything Adventure Bay,” and after a tough judging process, Youcan emerged as the best from an excellent crop of potential names.
As the grand prize winner, Kamilla receives a one-year pass to Adventure Bay, and she was treated to a free Subway lunch with her class at Sacred Heart.
