The Coroner’s Office has launched an inquest into the death of a construction worker killed while working on the Herb Gray Parkway.
Dr. Rick Mann, Regional Supervising Coroner for the Office’s West Region, announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Giuseppe Serra.
Serra, 40, died on June 17th, 2014 from injuries received when a steel and concrete panel fell during tunnel construction.
Serra’s employer plead guilty and was fined $120,000 in September.
The inquest, which is mandatory under the Coroners Act, will examine the events surrounding Serra’s death.
Officials say the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
