UWindsor’s Essex Hall Could Become Renovated Or Brand New Science Complex

The University of Windsor is set to begin a process to see what should be done with Essex Hall – one of the most dated buildings on the campus.

Essex Hall was constructed in two phases. Phase I, the south and center wings and south end of main hall was constructed in 1961, while Phase II, the north wing and north section of the main hall was constructed in 1964.

They plan to undertake a feasibility study to determine the long term plan and use of Essex Hall.

Plans could include renovating both phases of the current facility for a Science Complex, including both wet and dry labs, and to address current building deficiencies. A second option includes demolition of both phases for the purpose of constructing an entirely new Science Complex. A third option includes a hybrid of partial demolition, rebuilding and renovation of one or both phases.

They hope to have a plan in place by the spring.
