The ongoing warm temperatures is delaying the creation of an ice surface at Charles Clark Square.
City staff say that they hope to see a consistently low temperature in early January, which would lead to ice at Charles Clark early in the New Year.
In the meantime, more free public skating hours are being added at Lanspeary to help accommodate those missing out at Charles Clark Square.
The Lanspeary Rink ice pad doesn’t suffer the direct sun and rain effects that Charles Clark Square rink does, and thus ice is easier to form.
For those who take advantage of the skate lending program at All Saints Church, they do loan out skates for use at other arenas besides Charles Clark Square, and this includes Lanspeary as well. Skates are distributed on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12noon for individuals or groups.
