Essex Memorial Arena Poster Giveaway Set For Tuesday

This past summer, the 60-year-old Essex Memorial Arena was demolished, and this Tuesday you can get your own commemorative poster of the arena when the Essex 73’s game take on the Amherstburg Admirals at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.

“People are understandably sentimental about the Essex Memorial Arena,” says Doug Sweet, Director of Community Services. “For many years, it served our community well, both as a rink and as a community hub.”

Sweet says that the poster giveaway project is intended to officially recognize the historic importance of the Essex Memorial Arena before the year is out, and to do so in a meaningful way.

“We’re partnering with the Essex 73’s to offer this free keepsake because their success at the Essex Memorial Arena is legendary.”

The 7-time Schmalz Cup champions won 16 Great Lakes League championships and 6 Ontario Junior C titles from their home ice at the Essex Memorial Arena.

Game time on December 29th is 7pm and up to 1,000 posters will be distributed only at the game.
