The Essex Arts, Culture and Tourism Committee wants to knwo how your summer was.

They are inviting students to submit an entry in the new youth writing contest using “How I spent my summer vacation in Essex” as the theme.

“ACT is challenging students to be creative within the word limit identified for each age group, and we’re especially curious to know how students have spent their summer vacation in our town,” says Cynthia Cakebread, Manager of Recreation and Culture.

“We know there’s an abundance of activity happening in our community and we’d like local students to tell us how they’ve recently experienced Essex.”

Students may enter the contest in one of the following age brackets:

• 8 to 10 – 200 to 400 words

• 11 to 13 – 300 to 500 words

• 14 to 18 – 400 to 600 words

Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the top three winners in each division.

Email entries to [email protected] or drop them off at Town Hall, 33 Talbot Street South in Essex Centre.
