With August quickly flying by and school soon to be in session, St. Clair College held their 8th annual Family Fun Day at their South Campus location in Windsor to give families one more chance to enjoy the dog days of summer before it’s back to school in less than one month.

Edward Marocko has been volunteering with the alumni board at St. Clair College for a few years and took a large part in the 8th annual family fun day as his first year as a director on the alumni board. He said over the years the event just keeps growing, with this years attendance expected to have been anywhere between 2,000 and 3,000 people.

“It’s an excellent event,” said Marocko. “It’s one of our showcase events throughout the year and we cater it to families in Windsor-Essex/Chatham-Kent, hosted here at the beautiful South Campus. It’s an opportunity for alumni, community, families, especially the little ones, to come out and experience everything the college has to offer. It’s a good end of year type of event through the dog days of summer where it’s hot and we’re looking for things to do, it’s a great place to spend the day with the family.”

The event featured a comic book syndicon in the gym, pony rides, Zoo to You, airbrush tattoos, face painting, balloon animals and so much more across the front lawn of the South Campus. Marocko said they try to bring something for everyone to the campus and a great opportunity for families to socialize. They even offered a portion of time for free swimming in the campus’ indoor pool.

“This is a blast,” said Marocko. “We’re all in it together, Windsor-Essex/Chatham-Kent and this is one way to stay connected.”
