Demolition technicians will be taking a close look at why the planned implosion of the former GM Transmission Plant’s smokestack did not go as planned, Monday afternoon.
Hundreds of people gathered in the area to watch the tower topple town, but no such thing happened.
The implosion was set for 2pm and a large boom was promptly heard at that time. The tower did not fall.
But a small plume of white smoke or dust was visible near the base of the tower.
Windsor Police say the implosion suffered a malfunction. It’s expected to be rescheduled for the near future.
