The City of Windsor has announce a youth competition to name the mascot for the FINA 2016 World Swimming Championship.

“The official FINA Event Mascot is always an important and iconic component to the excitement surrounding and leading up to the Championships and we want the name to be fun and represent the culture and history of our amazing host community,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “We’re looking forward to having the young people from City of Windsor and Essex County get involved and be a part of the Championships in such a memorable way.”

The contest will be open to children between the ages of four to 17 and entries will be accepted until June 21st, 2015. The entrants must reside and go to school in the City of Windsor and Essex County. Entries for the contest will only be accepted online.

The grand prize winner will receive an Apple iPad-mini, 16 GB with Wi-Fi – Space Grey and four passes to the FINA 2016 World Swimming Championship Opening Ceremonies. In addition, the winner and their school class as of September 2015, will receive a visit by the FINA Mascot and enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by SUBWAY. The winner will also be given recognition at a public event hosted by the FINA 2016 World Swimming Championships.

The FINA 2016 World Swimming Championships will be taking place in the City of Windsor from December 7th to 11th, 2016.
