Residents of Leamington will soon benefit from the Pelee Drive and Bevel Line Sanitary Sewer Collection Project after joint funding from the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Small Communities Fund was announced Tuesday.

This project will improve Pelee Drive and Bevel Line’s sanitary sewage collection system and connect it to the Leamington Pollution Control Centre for treatment. Once completed, these improvements will help increase sewer capacity and reduce the risk of overflow during periods of peak demand, thus improving surface and ground water quality.

The Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario will each provide up to $2,000,000 with the Municipality of Leamington will be responsible for all remaining costs of the $8,000,000 project.
