First West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Pool Found

A mosquito pool in Essex County has tested positive for West Nile Virus. This is the first sign of the virus in Windsor and Essex County this year.
The Health Unit says that certain types of mosquitoes spread West Nile Virus, a potentially serious infection to humans. This first positive mosquito pool of the season is an indicator that the virus is present in our community.
So far, there are no reports of a human case of West Nile Virus.
