The highly anticipated 56,000 square foot City Market located at 1030 Walker Road is opening up on Friday, with more than 70 local vendors ready to sell their goods.

“There’s a lot of excitement, there’s so many people just starting to move in,” said Gerry Chittle, market manager. “All the food vendors are getting their food in, all the vegetable vendors are getting their vegetables in, the farmers are here setting up their booths … it’s amazing. I’m going from one side of the building to the other, which is great, helping out all the vendors. It’s great to know that they’re just as excited as I am.”

On Friday, Windsorites will be able to enjoy an array of outdoor food vendors selling things like popcorn and hotdogs, as well as an assortment of indoor food vendors. Chittle said while the food court on the left side of the building will be not be opening up until July, there is still a tremendous amount of goods to be bought.

“The way things are going everybody is all hyped and the amount of people who are coming into the building,” said Chittle. “All the Windsor people coming in saying ‘we just want to see what it looks like, we know you’re opening soon,’ I can’t tell you how many people are coming by bicycle, walking and by car.”

With very open hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 8am to 5pm, and Sundays from 11am to 5pm, Chittle aims to attract as many people to the market as possible. Families can enjoy hot dogs and inexpensive treats while they shop, and the elderly can enjoy the convenience of a one-stop-shop, all on one floor and completely accessible.
