The long awaited transformation of Sunset Avenue to a pedestrian walkway on the UWindsor campus gets underway today.

Last fall the road was closed to vehicle traffic, and a drop off was constructed off of University Avenue.

Construction on the new walkway will start at the new drop off working towards Wyandotte.  Work will be undertaken 200 feet at a time, and should reach Wyandotte by the end of June.

Once the walkway in the centre is complete then work will be undertaken on either side removing the old sidewalks and creating green space along with new seating areas and landscaping.

The majority of the work should be complete by the time students return in September with the rest finished by the end of October.
