Town of Tecumseh Announces Community Torchbearer

The Town of Tecumseh has announced that Mark Renaud as the community torchbearer for the Toronro 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay, when it comes to town on Tuesday, June 16th.
Mark and his wife Jane have lived in the Town of Tecumseh for 28 years along with their three children, Remy, Mickey and Penny. Mark played professional hockey in the National Hockey League for the Hartford Whalers and Buffalo Sabres and is a member of the Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame. Mark’s son
Mickey attended elementary and high school in Tecumseh and was captain of the Windsor Spitfires. Mickey passed away in 2008 and rests in St. Anne Cemetery in Tecumseh. Mark will be carrying the torch in Mickey’s honour and memory.
During the 41-day torch relay, each of the 3,000 torchbearers will complete, on average, a 200-metre relay segment. The torch will be carried by more than 60 modes of transportation and exceed 5,000 kilometres on the road and 15,000 kilometres by air.
“The torch is a unique symbol of the Pan Am Games and carries a powerful energy that will unite Canadians,” said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer, TO2015. “The torchbearers will proudly carry the flame through more than 130 communities, igniting the Pan Am spirit as they go.”
