Liquidation sales have started at Windsor’s Target store.
Hundreds of people packed into Windsor’s Target store at Devonshire Mall on Thursday morning — some lining up before the store opened — after a court approved the company’s liquidation plans on Wednesday.
Liquidators announced initial sales from five to thirty per cent off regular prices.
Most items in store Thursday were priced at either ten or twenty per cent
“Ten percent off isn’t that great,” said shopper Lynda Gallant who came to the store looking for deals on bedding. Others snapped up items quickly.
Select fixtures, furnishings and equipment in the stores and distribution centers are also on sale and the company expects to begin closing Canadian stores in March as supplies dwindle.
Target says the sales must be finished by May 15th. Like similar liquidation sales, it’s expected that discounts will increase over the weeks.
Target Canada gift cards will be honored throughout the sale.
