City administration is recommending to City Council that they increase the parking rate at all city meters, lots and garages by 10 cents.

Should this be accepted, meter rates would increase to $1.35 per hour, and lots/garages would increase to $1.10 per hour.

The city says that the last increase in parking rates occurred in 2007 raising rates by $0.25 from $1.00 to $1.25 at parking meters.

Administration says that “the proposed increase continues with the philosophy of higher rates for prime on-street spaces with lower costs to encourage longer term parking in off-street facilities.”

The budget goes to council for approval on January 19th.
