The City of Windsor has hired Phil Roberts as the new Executive Director of Parks.
Since 1995 Roberts has been employed at the Windsor International Airport in roles including Environmental Coordinator, Technical Coordinator and, since 2007, Director of Operations.
Prior to his time with the airport, he worked for Halton Region Conservation developing wildlife and nature programs at the Montsberg Wildlife Centre. He then joined the Essex Region Conservation Authority as a Staff Naturalist and Hillman Marsh Parks Manager.
Roberts has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Windsor majoring in Geological Studies with minors in Biology and Ecology. Post graduate work includes a Natural Heritage Interpretation and Parks Public Relations certificate from Humber College.
He is also involved in the community as a volunteer with the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association, the Essex County Field Naturalists’ Club and the Detroit River Canadian Clean-up Public Advisory Board.
He starts on February 23rd, 2015.
