Windsor City Councillor Ed Sleiman has been acclaimed as the next Chair of the Essex Region Conservation Authority.
Councillor Sleiman worked in the construction industry most of his life and earned a multitude of certifications in steam fitting, welding, gas and liquid fuel. He has been on the Board of Directors since 2011, and has been active in the Authority’s Tender Committee.
“I look forward to working with the ERCA Board to make the decisions that will ultimately affect our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as we strive to create a future of environmental sustainability for this region,” said Sleiman. “There’s no question that a healthy economy and healthy environment are linked together, and we must create a healthy environment to better attract jobs, and to keep our youth in this great region. What an exciting opportunity we have here, through this Board, and at this time, to work together to create future of sustainability.”
Councillor Len Janisse of the Town of Lakeshore was elected as the Vice-Chair.
