A Very Windy Christmas On The Way

Wednesday December 24th, 2014, 8:43am

Hello time traveller!!

Santa may have a wild ride this Christmas Eve, as a wind warning in effect for Windsor and Essex County.

A strong low pressure system developing over the Southern United States will continue to track northeastward to reach Southern Ontario this evening.

Strong southwest winds are expected to develop tonight into Christmas Day Thursday.

Winds of 60 gusting to 90 km/h are likely in many open areas. A few gusts near 100 km/h are also possible for regions bordering the northeastern shore of Lake Erie.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
