St. Clair College has renamed their Health Science Centre in honour of generous benefactor Anthony P. Toldo who donated one million dollars to the program.

“Students that pass through the doors will honour his name and spirit,” said Sarah Ryrie, president of the student representative council.

In response to the growing demand in the health care sector, the College built the 100,000 square-foot innovative teaching facility to provide education for more than 2,400 students in 13 programs.  The Centre produces elite graduates in a wide variety of disciplines including Nursing, Practical Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician Paramedic, Pharmacy Technician, Personal Support Worker, Sonography, Respiratory Therapy and Cardiovascular Technology.

“This gift from the Toldo Foundation is a clear sign that a community leader has recognized that the combined talent of an amazing staff at this college is making a difference as the leading educator in the province of Ontario,” said College president Dr. John Strasser.

“It’s good to see his light still shines bright in this community,” said Anthony’s son Tony Toldo. “This facility is a big win for Windsor. He would be very proud of it.”

The Toldo Foundation has been donating to healthcare, education, children programs and the arts in the community for almost 20 years.

“When he retired, he felt like it was time to give back,” Tony said. He added it’s nice to see the community recognize his contributions and commitments.
