The Lakeshore Canadiens, their fans and Belle River Source for Sports teamed up to ‘Pink the Rink’ this past Saturday night at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore.
The team invited their fans to wear pink to the game and donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. In all, $250.46 was collected at the game via fan donations.
In Addition, Canadiens assistant coaches Trevor Crevatin and Rene Loignon informed the team prior to the game they would each contribute $20 per Lakeshore goal scored that night.
With the Canadiens defeating the visiting Dresden Jr. Kings 7-0, that meant another $280 being added to the pot, for a total of $530.46.
Finally, Cypher Systems Group, the team’s ownership group agreed to contribute $469.54 to the cause, bringing the final amount to an even $1,000.
“It was a fantastic night of hockey and even more important is the funds and awareness raised through the game,” Canadiens marketing coordinator Rob Benneian said. “We are very thankful to everyone who made this night possible, including our fans, Belle River Source for Sports and the Canadian Cancer Society.”
