Here are some safety rules to ensure that everyone has a good time this Halloween.
Halloween Driving Tricks to Keep Everyone Safe:
~Don’t drive distracted – no cell phones, iPods or texting.
~Observe posted speed limits – proceed with caution.
~Watch for children darting across streets, especially between parked cars.
~Pay attention –don’t assume children see you.
~Pass all vehicles with care; they could be dropping off children.
Tips for Treat Seekers:
~carry a flashlight or glow sticks. Wear bright reflective clothing or use reflective tape on costumes.
~Use makeup, rather than masks, to have a clear view of surroundings.
~Remember, when crossing the street, look left, right and left again before crossing,
~Stay on sidewalks and cross only at corners or crosswalks.
~Have an adult go with children when they trick or treat.
~Don’t forget, have an adult check your candy when you get home.
Tips for Home Owners:
~If you have pets in the residence, it might be a good idea to keep them away from the door or other paths that children might use when approaching your residence. Even normally friendly dogs can get a little testy with unidentified trick or treaters.
~Turn your lights on so that the little trick or treaters can see their way around and will assist in avoiding potentially dangerous mishaps on your property.
~Keep your property in order, tidy and items off pathways that children may be travelling on in order to access your front door.
~Keep lit candles at a safe distance from trick or treaters, and always remember to blow the candles out after the festivities are completed.
