The Shores of Erie International Wine Festival in Amherstburg ended early Friday night as storms raced across the area bring heavy rain and damaging winds.

The park had to be evacuated as the storm damaged tents and brought down tree limbs in the park. Organizers opened the nearby high school for shelter, and no serious injuries were reported.

Organizers say the park will reopen at 2pm on Saturday after an army of volunteers clean the park. They say that straw is being laid down, but boots would be a good idea if you plan to attend on Saturday or Sunday.

They also say that Friday night’s tickets cannot be used for Saturday, and the planned Friday night fireworks are rescheduled for Saturday night.
