Construction continues on campus for the new University of Windsor Welcome Centre as the second floor frame is complete and crews are now working on the roof.
The building is rising at the north-east corner of Patricia and Wyandotte.
The design of the building is meant to create an open, welcoming feel for campus visitors and will house alumni and student recruitment offices, as well as the campus campaign office and public affairs and communications.
The total cost of the project is $8,462,000 and is to be funded from an existing base budget that supported external leases. The University says an internal loan will be established for a period of 25 years at an interest rate of 3.25%. The total debt cost, which includes principal and interest payments, approximates $500,000 per year.
Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2015.
