A Windsor man has won $100k on a lottery ticket.
Shawn Winters won the $100,000 with Encore on the August 1st Lotto Max draw. Winters also won $20 for matching three of the seven winning numbers.
“I scanned my ticket at a self-checker on my way home from work,” said the 48-year-old machine operator. “I couldn’t read the machine because of my eyesight so I asked the attendant at the gas station to check it for me. That is when the validation slip came out and the attendant said I won $100,000!”
“I thought it was a prank but it wasn’t. The gas attendant made my day so I gave him $100.”
Winters plans to use the money for a down payment on a house and to get laser eye surgery.
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven on Tecumseh Road East.
