The end is getting near for a downtown Windsor Landmark and you could own a piece of history.
Tunnel B.B.Q. Restaurant will be closing their doors in just a few weeks, after 73 years, to make way for the expansion of the University of Windsor’s downtown campus.
A public auction is being planned for the second week of September. The exact date is still being confirmed by Richard Lavin Auctions who will be hosting the sale.
It was announced on May 2nd that the University of Windsor had purchased the site as an alternative location for the arts programs originally planned for the Bus Depot property.
The University purchased the TBQ property for $4 million and the new building will cost an estimated $8.5 million. Funding for the project will come from the University’s existing bond proceeds and fundraising.
Construction is set to begin by the end of this year, with an opening set for the fall of 2016.
