UPDATED: Firefighters Knock Down Ontario Street Apartment Blaze

Windsor firefighters have extinguished a blaze in the 2100 block of Ontario Street in Walkerville.

Crews were called around 11pm and arriving firefighters found fire in an apartment unit on the second floor.

The fire was knocked down within minutes.

There was no injuries.

Fire officials say the cause was careless cooking.  Damage is estimated at $50,000.

The tenant was issued a $235 ticket for disabling the smoke alarms in the apartment.
