The financial burden of post secondary education will be lighter for five student recipients of bursaries from the Rotary Club of Windsor St. Clair.
Students exhibiting outstanding academic achievement, diverse volunteer activities, and financial need were selected as recipients of this bursary. Further consideration was given to those students who demonstrated a commitment to the Rotary International motto of “Service above Self”.
In choosing the successful recipients, the Principal and Guidance Departments at secondary schools in the Windsor-St. Clair area were invited to select potential candidates from their grade 12 student population. There are five secondary schools in the club’s catchment area, including Riverside, F.J. Brennan, W.F. Herman, St. Joseph and Ecole Secondarie L’Essor, and applications were received from each. Each bursary presented was in the amount of $1,000, and paid to the student’s post-secondary intuition to defray tuition costs.
At the August 7th club meeting, Sarah Jarvis of St. Joseph’s, Whitney Walpole and Sara Omaiche of Ecole Secondaire L’Essor, and Brandon Rollo and Colin Borri from F.J. Brennan were presented with their financial awards.
