Tecumseh Mall’s parking lot is turning into a drive in movie theatre this Friday night and you’re invited!

“Let Tecumseh Mall take you back to a time of old-fashioned family fun with their 5th annual Drive In Movie Night on Friday, August 15th,” says marketing director Nancy Jarnevic. “Pack up the kids, set the radio dial and enjoy a family-friendly movie on the big screen from the comfort of your own car!”

The mall will be screening The Lego Movie on a giant, inflatable movie screen in the southeast parking lot along Lauzon Road (near East Side Mario’s).

Movie parking will open at 6pm and the show will get underway at dusk — around 9:30pm.

Jarnevic says there will be plenty of pre-movie entertainment from 6pm to 9pm including face painting, balloon art, The Stilt Guys, Bomber from the Windsor Spitfires and a special appearance by Princesses Elsa and Anna from Frozen.

“The mall will be open until 9pm on Friday evening – families are welcome to have dinner in the mall at one of our 5 Food Court locations or grab snacks from some of our retailers (Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobeys or Dollarama are in the mall),” she said. “Tecumseh Mall also has 2 on-site restaurants, East Side Mario’s and Smoke & Spice Southern Barbecue, where families can enjoy a sit down meal before the movie.”

Moviegoers are asked to contribute donations toward the Unemployed Help Centre’s Food Bank services. A minimum $10 donation per family is suggested, says Jarnevic.

“I can’t think of a better way to create family memories than a classic drive-in experience,” says Jarnevic. “The forecast looks great and everyone should expect a fun family night out!”
