At a special membership meeting held Wednesday afternoon at the Fogolar Furlan Club, Windsor University Faculty Association members voted 99.5% to hold a strike vote on August 14th.

They also demanded that university administration return to the bargaining table.

Last week after the Faculty Association bargaining team rejected what the university called its final offer, the university informed them that the terms and conditions outlined in its final offer will be implemented on July 28th.

The final offer had no wage increases in the first two years, but there is a 3% wage increase in the third year. There is also a lump sum payment of $1,000 in the first and second year, as well as an increase of $2,550 for “progression through the ranks” and an increase based on the Windsor Salary Standard.  The contract also calls for an 1% increase to faculty’s pension payments from 8% to 9%.

In an open letter to the university community last week, president Alan Wildeman says that “the offer was presented as a final offer. The University moved significantly beyond its previous monetary proposal.”
