Firefighters have doused a small fire caused by an explosion at the University of Windsor.

Crews were called to the Jackman Dramatic Arts Building just before 1:30pm after someone reported a fire on the upper floors.

Firefighters found a small fire in a third floor classroom in Essex Hall, which is connected to the Dramatic Arts Building. Essex Hall houses labs and science programs.

Crews had the fire out within minutes and used fans to blow smoke from the building.

Windsor Fire said the blaze was caused by an explosion in a 3rd floor lab. They also reported the fire took place inside a fume hood.

It’s not clear how much damage the fire caused.

There are no reports of injuries.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been called to investigate.
