Firefighters have extinguished a basement fire at an apartment building on Rivard Avenue.

Crews were called just before 4pm, and found smoke coming from the two story apartment building across from the intersection at Adstoll.

Firefighters had the blaze knocked down within minutes.

Officials say the cause was electrical failure, and list damages $60,000.

There was no injuries.
