The proposed location is the north east corner of Fire Hall 7’s property

The City of Windsor is looking to improve the way that events at the WFCU Centre are promoted with a new outdoor scrolling sign.

In a report to the city council, the proposed location for the new sign is on the north east corner of Fire Hall 7’s property on the corner of Lauzon Line and Lauzon Parkway.

“This branding opportunity for the WFCU Centre on such a high traffic and high profile location is only a plus for the WFCU Centre and Global Spectrum,” says General Manager of Events Jason Toner. “The community asked for this sign and this will make sure that everyone knows what’s happening at the WFCU Centre – not only for our tenant games like the Windsor Spitfires and our concerts and family shows, but also great community events that take place at the WFCU Centre that people may not know about.”

The city also considered a parcel of land on the corner of McHugh and Lauzon Road, but a number of factors made them decide against that including having to acquire the property.

The proposed sign will be 19 feet wide by 50 feet high. The reports suggests that the sign may cost between $250,000 to $300,000.

Pending council approval on June 9th, the city will then issue a request for proposals.

“This one sign will be a beacon for the venue – and we can’t wait to flip the switch on it,” says Toner.
