When it comes to a location for the new state-of-the-art mega hospital, those who responded to a recent survey conducted by the Programs and Services Steering Committee say that accessibility is the top priority.
Officials say that over the last two weeks, 594 people participated in the online survey, where participants were asked to review the draft criteria list currently being considered for site selection, and choose which factors matter most to them.
The top 10 most popular responses suggest voters want the hospital to be easily accessible for patients, EMS, police and transit users, they want something conveniently located to meet the needs of current and future populations, and they want ample parking.
These results will be used by the Steering Committee as they finalize a weighted list of criteria. That list will be used by the Site Selection Subcommittee, an 11 member group made of volunteers from Windsor-Essex – to select a location for recommendation.
“We recognize that this is not a scientific survey. It is one of several ways we have attempted to gather public input into the matter before the Site Selection Subcommittee begins the very thorough process of selecting a recommended hospital location.” said David Musyj, Co-chair, Planning and Services Steering Committee and President and CEO Windsor Regional Hospital.
