Sydney Taylor from St. Clair College has brought home a Silver Medal in Graphic Design from the National Skills competition held recently at the International Centre in Toronto.
On the heels of her Gold Medal win at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo on May 7th, Taylor toughed out the grueling two day competition to capture the Silver medal.
“I was thrilled to hear my name called,” says Taylor. “The scope of the project was very demanding with just 6 hours each day to complete two very involved advertising campaigns. Once you developed your creative treatment there was no time to change it up.”
The competition was judged based on technical proficiency and creative treatment. “My internship helped me immensely in the competition, along with everything I learned in my program. The entire experience has been tremendous.”
Earlier in the year, Taylor was also the winner of the Shores of Erie Wine Festival poster design contest. “I have been very fortunate to have the chance to showcase my capabilities as a graphic designer, in great part to the opportunities provided through the Graphic Design program at the College.”
Taylor graduates next week and is looking forward to getting on with her career as a graphic designer.
