This Friday, the Town of Tecumseh is celebrating the long anticipated completion of a major construction project at the corner of Manning Road and Riverside Drive East.

Aside from the new road work and roundabout, also completed is the new WFCU Square, the Rotary Club Wheel and the Manning Road Pump Station.

The Manning Road Pump Station is part of the revitalization project of Manning Road at Riverside Drive. It is a newly constructed building that includes aesthetically pleasing features in keeping with the waterfront park development and provides a number of benefits, including: replacement of the former East Townline Drain pump station and outlet to Lake St. Clair, improved outlet capacity to reduce flooding risk, emergency back-up power supply with capability of exporting power back to the utility grid and environmental benefits with fish habitat compensation features.

The WFCU Square represents another community initiative that the Windsor Family Credit Union is supporting. Through a corporate sponsorship, the Windsor Family Credit Union has entered into a 25-year Naming Rights Agreement for an area within Lakewood Park. Signage has been installed in the park that designates the WFCU Square.

Finally, the newly constructed roundabout at the intersection of Manning Road and Riverside Drive has been completed and provides traffic calming and pedestrian refuge along with LED street lighting. Through a financial donation by the Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair, the roundabout features three six-foot diameter stainless steel rotary wheels attached to one another and leaning inwards at 30 degrees from the vertical. The rotary wheels add to the landscaping details of the roundabout and give considerable interest and charm to the Riverside/Manning intersection.

The grand opening ceremony an ribbon cutting takes place at 10am followed by a tour of the pump station along with coffee and refreshments.
