The City of Windsor has begun beautifying several bridges and streets with flowers.
“There are a total of 150 baskets that we will be installing,” says Parks director John Miceli.
City Council approved the baskets in May and used left over winter cleanup money to fund the beautification.
Miceli says to date 48 baskets have been received by the city and 102 are still on order.
They will be installed on Lauzon Parkway, the Little River bridge south of Hawthorne, the Forest Glade Drive bridge east of Lauzon Parkway, the Riverside Drive bridge over Little River, the Dougall Avenue bridge just south of West Grand, the Howard Avenue bridge over the Grand Marais Drain, the Central Avenue Bridge over EC Row, the College Avenue bridge, University Avenue over the rail cut, Tecumseh Road over Little River, the Ouellette Avenue bridge over Jackson Park and the 8th Concession road over EC Row.
Some of the baskets have already been installed, including flowers over the Grand Marais Drain on Dougall. “They are definitely getting great reviews by our residents,” Miceli said.
In addition, as part of his ward funds, Councillor Drew Dilkens allocated money for 60 hanging baskets along Norfolk Avenue in South Windsor.
