A rainy morning didn’t dampen the spirits of walkers supporting a cure for arthritis.
Walkers took part in a 1km and 5km, non-competitive, family-friendly walk through Malden Park Sunday morning to raise awareness and funding for arthritis, a disease affecting 4.6 million Canadians, 60,000 of which are children, according to the Arthritis Society.
The fifth annual event, which took place Sunday in 26 communities across the country, raised money to fund vital research to find a cure for this disease as well as fund many programs and services that help people living with arthritis.
Top fundraising teams included the Windsor-Essex Arthritis Fighters who pulled in $2490, Kinetic Konnection with $1075 and MIKE and the WINNERS with $742.
Top Individual fundraisers included Elaine Monk ($1050), Michael Balga ($742), Meagan LeBlanc ($600), Robert Pula ($590.26) and Deb Ethier ($544).
