The Windsor-Essex Positive Parenting Program “Triple P” is partnering with the Greater Essex County District School Board to provide a “JK/SK School Readiness” program at Begley, King Edward and David Suzuki Schools.
At each of these three schools families will come together three times over the next few months to enjoy a meal together, the children will have an opportunity to participate in fun programs with possible future classmates, and parents will attend specific programs designed to help them prepare their child to be successful at school.
“We have been providing Triple P programs in the community for many years now. The difference with this project is we are working with schools and reaching out to the entire family,” says Tammy Drazilov, Coordinator.
There is a child component to the “JK/SK School Readiness” program. Not only will the children be given an opportunity to play together, each program will also provide a scheduled learning opportunity. At this weeks event, Windsor Fire Fighters will attend and provide some fire safety tips to the children.
In addition, the principals have helped us select specific Triple P topics such as “Raising Resilient Children” to help parents work on specific skills to better prepare their children for school.
This free program will start on Tuesday May 20th at Begley Public School, Wednesday May 21st at Kind Edward Public School and Thursday May 22nd at David Suzuki School.
Families are welcome to attend at 4:30pm to 5:15pm for the meal and the programs will start running from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Registration is required and
interested families must call 519 257-5215, ext. 74033 or they can find more information online here.
